It is always sad when a member of the USATF South Carolina Association passes away. It is indeed with great sadness the loss of the following members is announced. Their friendship and expertise are missed.

Ron had been a national certified official in our SC Association since January 14, 2022. Previously, he was a member of the Florida Association from 2006-2013 and the Nevada Association from 2013-2022, where he also served as the USATF Nevada Association Vice-President.

Jack Van Deman, Jr., who was a USATF National level certified official in the South Carolina Association from February 8, 1997, through December 31, 2016. He also achieved a Lifetime Achievement award from the USATF South Carolina Association.

Donovan attended Coastal Carolina University, where he was an art major and a huge Chanticleer’s fan. He enjoyed refereeing all types of sports and was a huge sports fan.
Donovan was a long time track & field Official in the USATF South Carolina Association.

He was senior level Official in many disciplines: Master Finish Line Official, Master Throws Official, Master Umpire, Grade 2 Referee.
