The dates are set for the 2019 Spring Break Meets at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, SC.

Coastal Carolina Invitational March 8-9 (College/Open)

Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational March 14-16 (College/Open)

Beach Run Invitational April 5-6 (High School)

I’m pleased to announce that we will be increasing the officials daily stipend for the base rate as well as designated key positions for 2019.

 

Here are the officials stipend rates for the three 2019 spring break meets:

$75/day Base Rate for Umpires, Field Events, Clerks, Lap Counters, Weights and Measures assistants (an increase from $50/day in 2018)

$100/day Designated Head Field Event Official (please note this rate had already increased from $75/day in 2016 to $100/day in 2018)

$125/day Meet Referees, Starters, Head Weights and Measures, Head Clerk, Head Umpire (an increase from $100/day in 2018)

 

For a daily stipend to be paid by the City of Myrtle Beach you must comply with the following:

-Hold a current officials certification through a USATF Association for the 2019 year

-Complete and return a signed and dated contract (we will send these out in the late Fall)

-Complete and return a signed and dated W9 for 2019

-Sign-in and arrive on-time for your designated position

-Complete your designated assignment/event(s) and sign-out

 

Housing Policy:

-A complimentary double occupancy room will be provided for each of the night(s) prior to your assigned completion date(s) for officials who are traveling a distance greater than 60 miles from Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

-For those who are traveling from inside of 60 miles to Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium and are assigned to officiate Friday and Saturday, a complimentary double occupancy room for Friday night, or if inside 60 miles and assigned to officiate Thursday and Friday, a complimentary double occupancy room will be provided for Thursday night.

-If you live in the local Myrtle Beach area or have made other housing arrangements, you will not be required/assigned to stay in designated complimentary officials housing.

-A complimentary double occupancy room will be provided on Saturday night after the competition upon request, pending the approval of the meet director based on your travel arrangements/conditions (ie flight departure, lengthy driving distance, extreme weather conditions, etc.)

-Complimentary accommodations are based on 2 officials per room. If you choose not to room with another working official your daily stipend will be debited $45/night. Should you desire to extend your stay in Myrtle Beach either prior to or after any of your assigned competition dates and wish to remain at the designated host hotel we can secure a separate reservation for you. The City of Myrtle Beach will only be responsible for the daily room charge, taxes, and fees for the night(s) designated as complimentary per the policies listed above and listed on your signed contract. Other great reasons to be an official at the 2019 Spring Break Meets:

-Ocean front accommodations at full service property

-Air conditioned hospitality in new support building

-A full Welcome Breakfast on Friday March 8 and Friday March 15 and continental breakfast on Saturday March 9, Saturday March 16 and Saturday April 6.

-Lunches will be served each day of competition

-Dinner will be provided for those assigned to evening events

-Snacks and drinks will be available at all times

-Friday evening social events with complimentary heavy hors d’oeuvres, non-alcoholic drinks, and a cash bar

-Officials gift bag/apparel

-Personalized officials credential with meet schedule

-Free training sessions on field lynx lap tops and EMD’s (electronic measuring devises)

-Payment processed on the Monday after each competition, checks are issued and sent by the City to your address on record on the following Friday

-Visit Myrtle Beach is an official partner of the 2019 Spring Break Meets. What a better location to officiate an event with all the activities the Myrtle Beach area offers.  60 miles of sun, surf and sand are not the only things the Myrtle Beach area has to offer.  Whether you are ready to relax by the beach or take a ride on a jet ski, the Myrtle Beach Area offers it all. Check out all the in between games/competitions. There are so many fun activities to choose from, it’ll be hard to do it all.

Finally the City of Myrtle Beach has begun plans to manage the Visit Myrtle Beach Club Challenge youth meet scheduled for May 31-June 12019. If you are interested in officiating this event as well please check the box yes for more information on the officials application.
